Manhattan Italian Renaissance Mansion Lists for $49 Million
Manhattan luxury real estate broker Paula Del Nunzio of Brown Harris Stevens recently told World Property Channel that the Stanford White Mansion at 973 Fifth Avenue, the only available private home in Manhattan located directly on Fifth Avenue, is now on the market for $49 million.
Completed in 1907, the Italian Renaissance palazzo style mansion designed by famed Gilded Age architect Stanford White offers direct Central Park views from all floors. The building still possesses all of the interior details placed there by White, true to the original floor plan.
Encompassing approximately 15,225 total square feet on seven levels, the mansion includes six bedrooms, seven full and three half-baths as well as six staff rooms. There is elevator access to all levels, an oval staircase, and professional quality kitchens including a serving kitchen with a service stairway to all levels.
McKim, Mead & White was responsible for a redesign of The White House, Pennsylvania Station and the Century and Metropolitan Clubs in New York, the Boston Public Library. His residential clients were the most prestigious families of the time including Villard, Vanderbilt and Whitney and one of his last designs was 973 Fifth Avenue.
