(WILLIAMSBURG, VA) -- Given the tough economy of 2009, real estate advertising may enjoy an uptick in 2010.

Borrell Associates has published a new report on U.S. real estate advertising that says it may have bottomed out and poised to slightly rebound in 2010.

The real estate ad category declined 20% in 2009; from an annual ad spend of $24.4 billion to $19.6 billion.

Borrell's new real estate ad report forecasts a 3% uptick in 2010.

Borrell further predicts print real estate advertising will grow 16% in 2010, "due in large part to spending by government agencies and banks to promote the sale of distressed properties." Broadcast TV gets the more optimistic forecast of a 39% increase.

Conversely, Borrell also predicts online real estate advertising is expected to decline 4% in 2010, with directories down 14%.
